Michelle Kang, a candidate for Georgia's 99th District, received the Community Champion Award from the community organization LEVEL UP DAY. The awards ceremony was held at the Gwinnett County Office Building on July 9th.

Two Democratic candidates with deep community ties are launching aggressive campaigns to represent Gwinnett County at the Georgia State Capitol, signaling a push to expand the party’s influence in one of the state’s most politically dynamic regions.

Democrat Michelle Kang, who previously ran for a state House district in Gwinnett County, held a rally Saturday to launch a new bid for the seat.

Candidate Kang held a campaign launch ceremony at Cafe Bean in Suwanee, her constituency, on the afternoon of the 19th (Saturday). At the launch ceremony, supporters from various communities across generations cheered on Candidate Kang's re-run.

Candidate Michelle Kang, a first-generation Korean immigrant to Georgia in 1992, narrowly lost to the Republican incumbent in the 2024 election by just 621 votes.
