What Michelle Stands For
Georgia’s working families are stretched thin. Michelle Kang will lower costs
and continue to fight for a fairer future for ALL Georgians.
Housing Stability
Over a million renters in Georgia are struggling to keep up with rising housing costs. More than half spend over 30% of their income on rent, leaving little for food, healthcare, childcare, or savings. Homeowners aren’t spared either; many are burdened by skyrocketing insurance premiums and property taxes, making them “house poor” despite owning a home.
For Millennials and Gen Z, homeownership, the cornerstone of the American Dream, feels increasingly out of reach. They’re working hard, yet many don’t believe stable housing is attainable anymore.
As your representative, I will fight to make housing more affordable and accessible by:
Expanding affordable and workforce housing
Protecting renters from unjust evictions and extreme rent hikes
Supporting first-time homebuyers
Empowering local governments to meet the needs of their communities
A safe, stable home is the foundation for everything else—our health, education, and economic opportunity. It’s time Georgia puts working families first and recognizes that housing is not a luxury—it’s a human right.
Universal Childcare
Childcare is not a luxury; it’s a necessity for Georgia’s working families. With over 656,000 children under the age of five, parents, especially Millennials and Gen Z, are facing skyrocketing costs, often over $10,000 per year, per child. That’s more than in-state college tuition and simply out of reach for many families.
As your representative, I will:
Expand Childcare Tax Credits to ease the financial burden on working families
Increase state investment in affordable, high-quality early childhood care
Incentivize employers to provide childcare support and benefits
Ensure fair wages for childcare providers while upholding high standards
Support single parents and low-income families so no one is left behind
When parents can work without sacrificing their children’s well-being, our families thrive, and so does Georgia’s economy.
Healthcare for ALL
Health care is a human right, not a privilege. Yet Georgia ranks near the bottom in nearly every health metric. Under Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” Medicaid was slashed, putting hundreds of thousands of Georgians at risk. If these cuts aren’t reversed by 2034:
310,000 to 750,000 Georgians could lose coverage
37 nursing homes may be forced to close
The most harmful Medicaid changes, including new work requirements and lower federal payments, are set to take effect after 2026. We must act urgently, including filing a State Plan Amendment or pursuing a Section 1115 waiver to protect coverage.
As your representative, I will fight for a healthcare system that puts Georgians first by:
Investing in mental health care, including school- and community-based services and crisis response
Protecting reproductive freedom and improving maternal health, particularly for Black women, who face disproportionately high rates of preventable complications
Expanding telehealth and mobile clinics to deliver care to underserved communities
Eliminating discrimination in care, so no one is denied treatment due to income, race, gender, or geography
Every Georgian, no matter their income, background, or zip code, deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare. A healthier Georgia is possible, and I’m ready to fight for it.
Strong Education
Every child in Georgia deserves a fair shot, no matter their zip code, parent’s income level, or learning needs. But our public schools have been underfunded for too long, forcing teachers to do more with less and leaving students behind.
As your representative, I will:
Fully fund Georgia’s Quality Basic Education (QBE) formula to reflect real 21st-century education costs
Ensure every classroom has what it needs, from up-to-date textbooks and technology to safe facilities and trained staff
Increase support for students with learning differences, including stronger Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and more classroom aides
Reduce class sizes to improve student outcomes through more personalized instruction
Raise teacher pay to retain top talent and recognize educators’ vital role
Expand mental health resources for both students and staff
Invest in ongoing professional development to keep educators supported and inspired
Prepare students for the AI-driven future with modern curriculum and technology-focused education
Strong public schools are the foundation of a strong Georgia. When we invest in our children, and those who teach them, we invest in a brighter and more equitable future for all.
Fair Taxes
Georgia families are working harder than ever, but rising costs from groceries to healthcare are pushing too many behind. It’s time for a tax system that puts working people first, not billionaires.
As your representative, I will:
Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to support low- and moderate-income workers
Create Childcare Tax Credits to ease the burden on parents
Support targeted income tax cuts for households earning under $100,000
Close loopholes and wasteful tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations
Reinvest savings into education, healthcare, and infrastructure that benefits everyone
Let’s build a Georgia where families can get ahead, not just scrape by.
Small Business Support
As a former small business owner, I know the real challenges entrepreneurs face: securing capital, navigating red tape, and competing with big out-of-state corporations. I’ve lived it, and I carry those lessons with me into public service.
In office, I’ll fight to build a stronger, more supportive environment for Georgia’s small businesses by:
Expanding access to capital and funding
Streamlining and modernizing licensing and permitting to cut unnecessary bureaucracy
Providing training in financial sustainability, marketing, social media, and loan management
Prioritizing state contracts for local small businesses, not just for large or out-of-state companies
Georgia’s tax dollars should build Georgia’s economy. When we invest in our own entrepreneurs, we create jobs, strengthen communities, and build long-term resilience. Small businesses are the heart of our economy. Let’s make sure our policies help them grow and succeed.
Protecting Immigrant Families
Every immigrant family deserves to feel safe, respected, and at home, regardless of background or status. In Gwinnett County, the most diverse county in the nation, immigrants haven’t just contributed, they’ve helped build the fabric of our community.
But too many still live in fear due to discrimination, family separation, and the trauma caused by ICE’s illegal and inhumane actions under the Trump administration. These attacks didn’t just harm individuals, they destabilized entire neighborhoods.
As your representative, and as a first-generation Korean American immigrant, I will:
Stand up to anti-immigrant legislation and ensure Georgia never targets families for political gain
Push for expanded language access in schools, healthcare, and public services
Fight for the dignity, safety, and rights of every immigrant
Protect immigrant-owned small businesses and ensure equal access to public programs and resources
Work to end discriminatory policing and any collaboration between local law enforcement and ICE
Uplift immigrant voices in policymaking and community leadership
Immigrants made Gwinnett what it is today. Our laws should honor that legacy, and I’ll make sure they do.
