Candidate for State House District 99.

Advocate. Leader. Mother.

Meet Michelle

I’m Michelle Kang and I’m a proud first-generation Korean-American immigrant who came to the States in 1992. I decided to move to Georgia to build a better life for myself and my future family. I’ve had the privilege of calling Georgia home for over 30 years. The longer I’ve lived in our great state, the more invested I am in seeing Georgia thrive. I am running for office to make Georgia the best place to live, work, and raise a family and improve the quality of life for all Georgians.

I am running for office to represent all of my neighbors regardless of their income, race, religion, or the language they speak at home.

Priorities

  • Every Georgian deserves a fair shot at achieving economic stability and prosperity; no matter their background or zip code. That means fighting for living wages, affordable housing, and strong public transportation to connect people with opportunity. Michelle supports small businesses, workforce training, and access to union jobs that build pathways to the middle class. She’s committed to policies that don’t just grow the economy, but ensure that growth lifts everyone.

  • Rising cost of housing is pushing families to the brink. I’m committed to bold, practical solutions that make it possible for working people to live where they work. That means expanding affordable housing, protecting renters from unfair evictions and price gouging, and investing in smart development that preserves the character of our communities while meeting the needs of a growing population. I will fight for policies that put people over profits and ensure that every Georgian has a safe, stable place to call home.

  • Every person should have the fundamental right to make decisions about their own body; free from government interference. I will fight to restore and protect access to abortion, contraception, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare across Georgia. I understand that reproductive justice is about more than choice; it’s about access, equity, and dignity for all, especially for communities historically denied care. I’m committed to building a future where every Georgian can make their own healthcare decisions with freedom, safety, and support.

  • Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. That’s why I’m fighting to expand Medicaid in Georgia, which would provide coverage to hundreds of thousands of uninsured Georgians, strengthen rural hospitals, and bring billions in federal funding back to our state. Expanding Medicaid means better access to mental health services, preventive care, and treatment for chronic conditions. I will work to ensure that no one has to choose between going to the doctor and putting food on the table.

  • True community safety means investing in the well-being of our neighborhoods, not just relying on punishment. That means funding mental health services, youth programs, affordable housing, and violence prevention efforts that address the root causes of crime. I support accountable, community-centered public safety programs that builds trust and keeps all families safe; regardless of race, income, or immigration status. I am committed to a future where everyone feels safe not just from crime, but from injustice.

  • Every child deserves a high-quality public education; no matter their background, zip code, or income level. I will fight for fully funded schools, fair pay and support for teachers, and safe, inclusive learning environments. I support expanding access to early childhood education, strengthening STEM and arts programs, and ensuring that students graduate prepared for college, careers, or skilled trades. I’m committed to making Georgia’s schools a launchpad for opportunity and lifelong success for ALL students.
